Sankar Kavirajan – Ayurvedic Marma Therapist
Kerala, the epicenter of Ayurveda in India, is where Sankar Kavirajan received his training and credentials as an Ayurvedic marma therapist. He has 18 years of expertise, 12 of which have been in London. By combining Ayurveda and Kalaripayattu (traditional healing from the martial art), he has created a novel massage technique. As a Panchakarma therapist, Sankar may execute all of the pre-procedures of Panchakarma, such as snehana and swedana, as well as all of its components, including vamana, virechana, vasti, nasya, and raktamokshana. Additionally, he has given lectures, workshops, and exhibitions on Ayurveda in Europe and the UK.
About Ayurveda
With a history spanning over three millennia, Ayurveda is the oldest scientific medical system. By living responsibly and in harmony with nature and its natural rhythms, Ayurveda aims to create and sustain perfect health for the person, society, and environment. Every person has a distinct “doshic” constitution known as “Prakruti”. The ratio of the three “doshas” combined determines the Prakruti.
Disease is the state of an imbalance of the “doshas,” whereas health is the state of dynamic “doshic” balance. The symptoms and indicators indicate a dosha imbalance. Regaining the lost equilibrium is accomplished through treatment. Each person is responsible for maintaining their own health; the dynamic balance of the “doshas” is influenced by the type of activities one engages in, the quantity and quality of food they choose, and other factors.
About Panchakarma
Panchakarma is a collection of five treatments for a variety of illnesses that are carried out in a specially created format with carefully thought-out pre- and post-operative regimens. The goal of this therapy is to restore the body’s natural equilibrium and bio-purify it. In order to preserve health, panchakarma is advised for both healthy people and those with illnesses. Panchakarma must be carried out under the guidance of a qualified professional.
The three steps of Panchakarma are – Pre-procedure (Purva Karma), Main procedure (Pradhana Karma) and Post-procedure (Paschat Karma). Snehana and Svedana are the two procedures in Purva Karma. Vamana,Virechana, Vasti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana are the five procedures in Pradhana Karma. Paschat Karma includes diet, gentle massage, herbal smoking, etc.
